Bitcoin is defending $84,000 into the weekend. BTC traded at $84,035, up 0.4% on the day, after spot ETFs pulled in a record $2.39 billion for the week while $255 million in liquidations flushed out late leverage, CoinGape reported.
Altcoins joined the bid. Solana jumped 4.3% to $122.26, BNB added 4.2% to $793, XRP rose 2.3% to $1.57 and ether held $2,690, up 0.4%. The total crypto market cap sits at $2.98 trillion with greed reading 74, Rio Times reported.

The $83.9K line in the sand
Technicians draw the weekend battle line at $83,900 to $84,200: hold it and the uptrend stays intact, lose it and a slide below $80,000 opens up. Friday's record $45 billion options expiry passed without a break, and the $255 million liquidation wipeout reset funding rates to neutral, CoinGabbar reported.
The bear case, in one line: Coinbase analysts warn a real crypto winter could drag bitcoin as low as $50,000. That is the tail risk the $83.9K level is guarding against.
A wall of institutional money
The $2.39 billion weekly ETF haul is the story beneath the price. Corporate buyers keep stacking too, with Strategy adding again this week. Even geopolitics failed to break the bid: Trump's overnight rejection of Iran's proposal delayed bitcoin's run at new highs but left the uptrend standing, CoinGape reported.
And the $387.5 million Bitget hack has not dented the tape at all. The market's message: exchange risk is idiosyncratic, ETF demand is structural.
What it means for Malaysian traders
While Bursa sleeps, crypto trades. Bitcoin at about RM342,000 is a weekend-only show for local retail, and thin weekend books cut both ways: any Iran headline can gap oil and drag BTC with it, but ETF-fueled spot bids have bought every dip for a month. Weekend leverage is the danger; spot patience has been the trade.
